Sunday Night Sermon

Joe shared from Lamentations 3 and explained that in order to set our hearts on God this week, we need to do two things:

1. Seek Him (turn the volume up on God)

Seeking God is intentional – it takes action on our part. God promises us that those who seek him will find him! So, Joe encouraged us to seek him both this week and as we head back into the normal flow of life. Seeking him could look like developing a more consistent time in the Bible, being intentional with Christian friendship, and prioritizing both church and LifeGroup.

2. Wait (turn down the volume of the world). Joe asked the students to name some things that distract them. Some of the answers were phones, Netflix, video games, partying, and bad influences. He challenged the students to get serious about their sin – to hate it so badly that they are willing to take drastic measures to eliminate the distractions. Joe illustrated this by taking a bat to his Playstation and encouraging the students to “crush sin” by the power of the Holy Spirit.

Joe also reminded us that God is not in the business of taking away all of the bad things in our life, but that he is in the business of loving us through them.

And then....we party!

After service we spent some time in small groups in our cabin debriefing Joe’s sermon and then headed out for the opening night of fun and fellowship. We turned up the music, inflated the inflatables, and started churning out cotton candy and snow cones. A fun night was had by all.

Senior Sermons and Great Games

This morning seniors Jeremy Chen and Kelly Morris shared from John 15 – reminding us that we have a responsibility to love one another. To those outside of the family of God we are to love them to Jesus. For those who are Christians, we don’t need to be alike in every way, but celebrate and love one another in the midst of our differences.

Team games kicked off this morning and team work started on high ropes adventures. Pool time, paintball, horseback riding, and evening worship with Pastor Rick Duncan are on the horizon! PHEW – so much fun to be had!!
